LONDON, March 2 (UPI) -- "Gran Torino" gave Clint Eastwood his biggest weekend box-office haul in the United Kingdom and Ireland last weekend, Warner Bros. said Monday.

The film had previously attained the highest gross at the U.S. box office of any movie in actor/director Eastwood's filmography.

"Gran Torino" made $1.4 million in the United Kingdom this past weekend. In Ireland, where it spent a second weekend at the top of the box office, "Gran Torino" has accrued a total of $984,000.

"Gran Torino" has already scored $138 million at the U.S. box office and is still in theaters.

The movie is directed by Eastwood, who stars as an iron-willed Korean War veteran forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices.
