Spears heads home before starting tour

MCCOMB, Miss., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Pop singer Britney Spears says she is visiting her home town of Kentwood, Miss., in anticipation of beginning her "Circus" tour.

The pop star wrote on her Web site Friday she was flying to Mississippi from Los Angeles five days before her highly anticipated tour begins in New Orleans, People.com reported.

"On my way to Kentwood … Five days left! So excited," Spears said in the online posting.

Accompanying Spears on her flight Friday were her sons Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2.

The pop star's brother, Bryan, was also part of an entourage of nearly 12 people that flew into McComb, Miss., with Spears.

The 27-year-old Grammy-winning singer has resurrected her career since a personal melt-down that resulted in her hospitalization and losing custody of her children in 2008.

A source close to Spear's family told People she appeared to be physically ready to begin her newest tour Tuesday.

"She looks great, she's working out three or four hours a day," the unidentified source said. "Everybody's pulling for her after all she's been through."
