LOS ANGELES, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Singer Jewel says she won't let her injured knees prevent her from competing on the next edition of the U.S. television show "Dancing with the Stars."

The season premiere is slated for March 9.

"Yes, it is true I have had a minor setback in my training for 'Dancing with the Stars' but I am dedicated to getting better and showing the judges and America that I can cha cha with the best of them," the recording artist said in a statement issued to Usmagazine.com Thursday. "Don't count me out, as I am in this for the long run."

Jewel said on her blog Wednesday that she has tendinitis in her knees and, "I'm just worried I won't even be able to dance!"
