Sporty Spice Mel C. gives birth to a girl

LONDON, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A message posted on Melanie Chisholm's Web site says the British pop singer has given birth to a daughter in London.

The baby girl, who was born Sunday, is the first child for former Spice Girl Chisholm and her boyfriend of more than six years, Thomas Starr, E! Online noted.

"The baby weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces," the Web site said. "Both Mum and baby, named Scarlet Starr, are doing fine."
