LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Dorothy Bridges, mother of U.S. actors Jeff and Beau Bridges, has died of age-related causes in Los Angeles at the age of 93, her family says.
Bridges, who was actor Lloyd Bridges' widow, was credited as a creative force behind her two sons' successful movie careers. She died Monday, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday
"My dad was sort of the front man: He was out there getting public attention. But my mom was behind the scenes, sort of holding the whole thing together, and she did that with her own particular brand of verve," Jeff Bridges said Friday. "She was such a creative person and inspired us all to be creative."
Dorothy Bridges also enjoyed an acting career during her life, appearing alongside family members in a number of TV and movie productions.
The Times said in addition to her sons, Bridges is survived by her daughter Lucinda, a brother, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
