
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The total worldwide revenues for the U.S. blockbuster movie "The Dark Knight" have surpassed $1 billion, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. says.
The U.S. studio announced Friday the worldwide gross for the popular comic book-based action film had reached $1,001,082,160, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The Batman movie is up for eight Oscars Sunday.
Warner Bros. domestic distribution President Dan Fellman told the Reporter the studio was very proud of the success of last year's summer blockbuster.
"From our initial record-shattering opening weekend to the unprecedented momentum of the film's box office run, we could not be more proud of 'The Dark Knight's' unparalleled success," Fellman said. "We salute our filmmakers, cast and crew on making cinematic history."
