BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The pilots "Funny in Farsi" and "Planet Lucy" have been put on hold by ABC after production requirements were not met, the U.S. TV network says.
The Hollywood Reporter said the two ABC comedy pilots both missed Friday deadlines imposed by network officials.
ABC officials had picked up "Farsi" under an agreement that carried stipulations about the pilot's director, while "Lucy" was approved by the network under certain casting requirements. Specific details of the pilot contingencies were not reported.
"Farsi," a ABC Studios production, was to be about a girl originally from Iran who grows up in Newport Beach, Calif.
"Lucy," meanwhile, was to tell the story of a disaster-prone woman attempting to be a stay-at-home mother to three kids after enjoying a successful career as a professional. The pilot was being produced by Sony and ABC Studios.
The Reporter said both pilots are based on books with "Farsi" following a Firoozeh Dumas memoir and "Lucy" bringing author Fiona Neill's book "Slummy Mummy" to the TV industry.
