NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- People who create TV shows and do not care to deal with industry executives can find success on Blip.tv, the Web site's co-founder says.
Dina Kaplan, Blip.tv's founder and chief operating officer, said the online site features nearly 38,000 homegrown shows and offers a second option for video makers unwilling to deal with big TV networks, USA Today reported Friday.
"We target anyone who wants to make quality content and doesn't want to pitch the show to a network TV exec," Kaplan said. "There's a lot of great content a network exec might say no to that could be an excellent and profitable Web show."
Those whose creations are shown on Blip.tv split all related advertising revenue with the site's creators.
Kaplan told USA Today that thanks to a new contract agreement, Blip.tv will soon be available through TiVo services on televisions nationwide.
"This is the convergence everyone has been talking about," Kaplan said of the new deal. "It's so much more comfortable to watch on the living room couch than an office chair, so why not have the option?"
