LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- "The Dark Knight" filmmaker Christopher Nolan is to direct and produce "Inception," a science-fiction action flick he also penned, Variety.com reported.

Nolan's other films include "Memento," "Insomnia" and "Batman Begins."

Variety.com said Warner Bros., the studio that backed Nolan's two "Batman" blockbusters, made a seven-figure deal to keep Nolan in the studio fold by putting him to work on "Inception."

Set within the architecture of the human mind, the film is expected to start shooting this summer and to be released in 2010, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
