PHOENIX, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Rapper DMX has been placed in a solitary cell after he verbally abused Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff's detention officers, officials said.
Lt. Brian Lee, a sheriff's spokesman, told The Arizona Republic that DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, is expected to remain isolated for 23 hours a day for the next month.
The hip-hop star began serving his 90-day sentence in with the prison's general population late last month after he pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts.
He was placed in solitary Sunday after he allegedly refused to do his work detail and didn't show up on time to receive medication from jail staff, then arrived an hour late demanding it, and ranted and swore at staff and corrections officers, The Republic said.
