LOS ANGELES, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is in talks to direct a big-screen adaptation of Michael Lewis' book, "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game."
Variety.com said the sports-themed project could reunite Soderbergh with Brad Pitt, one of the stars of Soderbergh's "Ocean's 11" remake and its two sequels.
Pitt, who is up for an Oscar for his work in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," has been considering a role in "Moneyball" since last year when Steve Zaillian signed on to write the screenplay, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
Zaillian's writing credits include "Schindler's List," "Gangs of New York," "All the King's Men" and "American Gangster."
