Lil Wayne wins rap album Grammy

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" was named rap album of the year at the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night.

"I just want to say, thank God; thank New Orleans; thank these people you see right here," the rapper said, referring to the numerous people who accompanied him on stage to pick up his trophy.

"And thank you," the New Orleans native told the audience.
