ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The "it's a small world" ride at Disneyland re-opened Friday after closing last year for an extensive overhaul, the theme park said.
Disneyland said that while its classic attraction has been "renovated and enhanced," it also retains the charm "that holds such a special place in the hearts of Disneyland guests."
Visitors to the newly revamped ride will find some of the dolls formerly dressed in fashions from around the world, now dressed as Disney characters and located in the countries where their stories take place.
For example, dolls dressed in Aladdin and Jasmine costumes play in the Middle East scene, and a doll dressed as Alice from "Alice in Wonderland" appears in the Great Britain setting.
In all, 29 Disney and Disney-Pixar characters are represented in the attraction. While some appear as child dolls, others will be represented as playful-looking toys.
"We know that many people have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to relive their 'it's a small world' memories and to create new ones with children, grandchildren and friends," Disney Imagineer art director Kim Irvine said in a statement. "It's a pleasure to once again offer this beloved attraction to Disneyland guests, now with some special Disney enhancements."
