LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Universal Pictures says a distribution pact with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen's DreamWorks production company is no longer likely.

"Universal Pictures has ended discussions with DreamWorks for a distribution agreement," Universal said in a statement Friday. "Over the past several weeks, DreamWorks has demanded material changes to previously agreed upon terms. It is clear that DreamWorks' needs and Universal's business interests are no longer in alignment. We wish them luck in their pursuit of funding and distribution of their future endeavors."

The New York Times cited multiple unnamed sources as saying DreamWorks is in advanced negotiations regarding a deal to distribute its movies through the Walt Disney Co.

Representatives for Disney, Universal and DreamWorks declined to comment on the story, the Times said.
