CHICAGO, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Chicago's Second City comedy troupe is turning Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's impeachment into a one-act musical.
"Rod Blagojevich Superstar!" was dreamed up at a Second City party in January and scripted, choreographed and rehearsed in less than a month before its debut Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
"At worst, we get a ton of PR -- which we've gotten," said Kelly Leonard, vice president of Second City. "And at best we have a show that has legs."
"Superstar" traces Blagojevich's rise from law school to Illinois governor and power broker, the Sun Times said. Co-writers Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff modeled their effort after the Andrew Lloyd Weber smash "Jesus Christ, Superstar," including a foul-mouthed parody of Mary Magdalene type who croons, "I Don't Know How to F- - - ing Love Him," a send-off to his profanity-laced conversations caught on FBI wiretaps.
"There's so much going on, I've been pitching 'Blagojevich 2: The Wrath of Quinn,'" Furman said.
