LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- "Taken" took the top box office spot during its first weekend of release, raking in $24.625 million in estimated gross U.S. receipts.
"Paul Blart: Mall Cop," fell to second place in its third week of release with $14 million.
All figures are from Box Office Mojo.
"The Uninvited" was in third place with $10.512 million; "Hotel for Dogs" fourth with $8.706 million; "Gran Torino" fifth with $8.6 million; "Slumdog Millionaire" sixth with $7.68 million.
"Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" was seventh with $7.2 million; "New in Town" eighth with $6.75 million, and "My Bloody Valentine" ninth with $4.26 million.
"Inkheart" rounded out the top 10 with $3.7 million.
