Coke recreates beloved ad for Super Bowl

NEW YORK, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Tommy Okon, who as a U.S. child actor appeared in a 1979 Coke commercial, says the famous advertisement has been recreated for the Super Bowl.

Okon said he is still surprised how famous the advertisement he appeared in alongside football great "Mean Joe" Greene remains 30 years after it first aired during the Super Bowl, the New York Post said Sunday.

"I do find it strange that the commercial has continued to have the appeal that it does, or that people continue to always remember it," Okon, 39, said. "But strange in a flattering way. It's a great thing to be a part of."

The recreation of the famed Coke commercial set to air during Sunday's Super Bowl will feature Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu instead of Greene. The commercial is said to have a twist ending that will separate it from its predecessor.

Okon, who was 9 when he filmed the original commercial, told the Post he still keeps in contact with Greene.

"Next time he's in New York, I have to get him over to see my kids. He's never seen them," Okon said of the NFL defensive great.
