LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Teenage actress Dakota Fanning says there is a chance she may appear as an evil vampire in the sequel to the U.S. film "Twilight."

The 14-year-old star of such films as "War of the Worlds" and "Hounddog" said she is open to the opportunity of taking part in the series of films based on the literary works of author Stephanie Meyer, People.com said Saturday.

"It's not 100 percent yet set in stone but it's definitely not totally untrue or a rumor," Fanning said during a Los Angeles promotional event. "It's definitely a possibility and I think it would be really, really fun to be a part of."

"Twilight" and its upcoming sequel, "New Moon," revolve around the relationship between a teenage girl and a male vampire.

Fanning told People.com that she is particularly looking forward to embracing the evil part of her possible new role.

"I think just playing an evil vampire is really cool," she said. "If I got to do ('New Moon'), that'd probably be the most fun part."
