To take home the PGA Award Saturday, "Slumdog" beat out fellow nominees "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Dark Knight," "Frost/Nixon" and "Milk."

The winner of the PGA Award has won the best picture Oscar that same year in 12 of the last 19 years, the Times said.

Other winners at the PGA event were producer Jim Morris, who won a Animated Theatrical Motion Picture award for "Wall-E," and Simon Chinn, whose "Man on Wire" earned the producer a Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture win.
