Oddsmakers say 'Slumdog' an Oscar lock

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- British director Danny Boyle's 2008 movie "Slumdog Millionaire" has the favorite to win a Best Picture Oscar award, oddsmakers say.

Four top oddsmakers have all tabbed the romantic drama most likely to win the Academy Awards' top prize with "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" as a secondary favorite for best picture, E! Online reported Friday.

The oddsmakers, who include sports books heads at the Wynn and Hilton resorts in Las Vegas, has named "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke as the favorite to win a Best Actor Oscar. "Milk" star Sean Penn was a close second.

British actress Kate Winslet was tabbed by the oddsmakers as the top nominee for a Best Actress Oscar, narrowly beating out "Doubt" star Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway of "Rachel Getting Married."

The oddsmakers, who also include British gambling guru William Hill and the Intertops online group, are also convinced the late actor Heath Ledger will receive a Best Supporting Actor award for "The Dark Knight," E! Online said.
