BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Movie producer Charles Schneer, who counted "Jason and the Argonauts" among his works, has reportedly died in Boca Raton, Fla., at the age of 88.

The Hollywood Reporter said Friday Schneer produced 25 movies, ranging from "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" to "It Came from Beneath the Sea."

Schneer, who died Wednesday of unspecified causes, was a regular collaborator with special effects expert Ray Harryhausen. The cinematic pair created "Jason," "Sea" and "Sinbad," along with 1956's "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" and 1957's "20 Million Miles to Earth."

Their collaborations routinely included the use of a stop-motion process of animation that brought fictional creatures to life.

The Reporter said Schneer is survived by his wife Shirley, two daughters, a sister, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
