'Battlestar' memorabilia up for sale

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Fans of "Battlestar Galactica" can buy a piece of the U.S. science fiction TV show on the Internet, a media industry executive says.

NBC Universal Director of Product Development Stacey Ward, whose company owns the Sci Fi cable channel, said thousands of pieces of "Battlestar" memorabilia went on sale Friday on eBay, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"'Battlestar Galactica' is an incredible series that has drawn critical praise, as well as tremendous fan support," Ward said. "We are really proud to be able to give fans a chance to bid on their favorite costume, prop or a piece of the set in this unique auction setting."

All proceeds will go to charities, the Times said.

The newspaper said the online auctions will take place each Friday on eBay during the final nine weeks of "Galactica," which is to end its Sci Fi run after premiering in 2004.
