SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- One million copies of "Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys" have been sold in the United States and Canada since its release on DVD last week, Lionsgate said.
The brisk sales helped the family drama -- starring Perry, Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Sanaa Lathan, Rockmond Dunbar, KaDee Strickland, Cole Hauser, Taraji P. Henson and Robin Givens -- debut at No. 1 spot on the North American DVD chart, the company said.
"Tyler Perry is truly one of the most original and successful voices in the entertainment world today," Ron Schwartz, Lionsgate's home entertainment general manager and executive vice president, said in a statement. "He has an enormously loyal following, which continues to grow with each new theatrical and home entertainment release. We are proud to have him as a part of the Lionsgate family and look forward to many more releases based on his works down the road."
