LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- U.S. television network NBC has given a script commitment to "Barely Legal," a half-hour comedy about a young woman who passes the bar at age 18, sources say.

The show, starring Hilary Duff and executive produced by actor Rob Morrow, is based on the on the true story of Kathleen Holtz, who in November 2007 passed the difficult California bar exam at 18 to become the state's youngest lawyer, the Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

It's the second pilot about young female lawyers that NBC has greenlighted recently. Also on the network's slate is "Legally Mad," a "dramedy" from producer David E. Kelley, the trade journal said.
