'Mad Men,' 'Rock' up for dual DGA honors

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- "Mad Men," "30 Rock" and director Paris Barclay were each nominated for two Directors Guild of America awards Friday.

Winners of the prizes are to be announced Jan. 31 at the 61st annual DGA Awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

Alan Taylor is up for a DGA award for directing "The Mountain King" episode of the 1950s-set TV drama series "Mad Men," while Matthew Weiner was nominated for the show's "Meditations in an Emergency" installment.

Barclay earned a nod for helming the "Alex: Week Eight" episode of the therapy-themed drama "In Treatment," as well as a nomination for the "The Three Coolers" installment of the TV comedy "Weeds."

Also nominated in the television drama series category are Dan Attias for the "Transitions" entry of "The Wire" and Jack Bender for "The Constant" episode of "Lost."

The sit-com "30 Rock" garnered nods for Beth McCarthy-Miller for "The Reunion Episode No. 304" and Don Scardino for "Do Over." They will compete for the DGA award with Julian Farino for the "Tree Trippers" episode of "Entourage" and Paul Feig's offering "Dinner Party" for "The Office."

Shortlisted for the TV movie and miniseries category were Bob Balaban for "Bernard and Doris," Tom Hooper for "John Adams," Kenny Leon for "A Raisin in the Sun," Jay Roach for "Recount" and Mikael Salomon for "The Andromeda Strain."
