LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Reese Witherspoon was named favorite female movie star at the People's Choice Awards show in Los Angeles Wednesday night.

"Thank you so much. This is such a great way to start the new year," Witherspoon, who starred in "Four Christmases," said as she collected her prize.

Will Smith won the favorite male movie star and male action star awards, while Angelina Jolie took the favorite female action star gong and her real-life partner Brad Pitt won the favorite leading man honor. Tina Fey was named favorite funny female star.
