ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Guitarist Ronald Asheton, an original member of the iconic rock band The Stooges, was found dead Tuesday in his Ann Arbor, Mich., home, police said.

The 60-year-old musician's body was discovered on a living room couch after Asheton's personal assistant called police late Monday night, stating he had been unable to reach Asheton for days, Detective Bill Stanford told the Ann Arbor (Mich.) News.

Stanford said Asheton appeared to have been dead for several days.

Detective Sgt. Jim Stephenson told the newspaper investigators don't suspect foul play, and autopsy and toxicology results are pending.

Asheton is survived by his brother, Scott, who is the drummer for The Stooges, the News said.
