NEW YORK, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson is considering singing at U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's upcoming inauguration, a source says.

The Oscar-winning star of "Dreamgirls" sang at the Democratic National Convention last summer, but she has stayed out of the spotlight since her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were shot to death in Chicago in October. Her brother-in-law has been charged in the triple homicide.

"Organizers want Jennifer to sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the Inauguration on Jan. 20," a source told the New York Post. "They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter."

The newspaper said Hudson's publicist didn't return its calls seeking comment.
