LONDON, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Coldplay says it wanted to offer its fans a Christmas present by offering a free download of a remixed version of the British band's hit, "Viva la Vida." The Daily Telegraph said Wednesday the "Speed of Sound" band is offering the musical single free online along with a "Happy Christmas Folks" greeting for its loyal fans.

The band's lead singer, Chris Martin, also jokes on the its Web site about a new featured video that features actor Simon Pegg. The video shows the "Shaun of the Dead" star singing "Jingle Bells" with Coldplay at a London show last week.
"In homage to Robbie Williams rejoining Take That, we're going to form our own supergroup. Ladies and gentlemen it's Simon Pegg," Martin said in the online posting, referring to singer Williams and his former band.
The Telegraph said the remixed version of "Vida" will be available for free fan downloads on the group's Web site until Jan. 5.
