Bruckheimer, Bay ready for 'Cocaine'

NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. directors Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay have both signed onto the upcoming HBO drama "Cocaine Cowboys," industry sources say.

The Hollywood Reporter said Friday Bruckheimer and Bay will be executive producers for the cable TV production, which follows cocaine trafficking in Miami.

The project is inspired by the 2006 documentary of the same name from director Billy Corben and will be produced by Warner Bros TV.

Meredith Stiehm, the creator of the CBS drama "Cold Case," will serve as writer for the new series.

Physical production for the project will be handled by WBTV if HBO gives the series a green light, the Reporter said.

The industry publication said the involvement of Bruckheimer and Bay with the dramatic series comes in the wake of HBO's signing of TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey to an exclusive deal this week.
