MEMPHIS, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A Washington woman claiming to be the daughter of Vernon Presley has withdrawn her request in Memphis Probate Court to be named an heir to Presley's estate.

Vernon Presley is the late father of the also-deceased rock 'n' roll megastar Elvis Presley.

Alice Elizabeth Tiffin, a 46-year-old divorced mother of four, changed her name last summer to Eliza Presley. She filed a claim in October, stating she is the daughter of Vernon Presley and has DNA evidence from Elvis Presley to back up her story. She also said Elvis is still alive, even though he was declared dead in 1977.

Eliza Presley's mother, however, has denied that Vernon Presley, who died in 1979, fathered her child.

The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal reported that although Eliza Presley Monday dropped her request to be named Vernon Presley's heir in Memphis, she plans to refile her claim in another court.

"The issues are still alive and well," the newspaper quoted her lawyer Kathleen Caldwell as saying. "It's not over by a long shot."

William Bradley Jr., an attorney who represents Elvis Presley Enterprises and Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley Lockwood, told The Commercial Appeal that Eliza Presley's case has no merit.
