LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Robert "Bob" Crowley was declared the winner of the television competition series "Survivor Gabon: Earth's Last Eden" on the show's finale Sunday.
At 57, Crowley was the oldest contestant to ever win "Survivor," which has run for 17 seasons.
In addition to his title of winner, the high-school physics teacher from Maine also earned a $1 million prize.
"I played with gusto, with my heart," E! News quoted Crowley as saying to his fellow finalists Jessica "Sugar" Kiper and Susie Smith, as well as contestants who had been eliminated earlier in the show.
"I've played hard. My game strategy was to come in here and use my personality, my survival skills to make my life and your lives better. While I was here, I don't think I outwitted you. I don't think I outplayed you. The only thing I did was outlast you."
