
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- The American Film Institute Sunday announced its AFI Awards 2008, recognizing "the year's most outstanding achievements" in film and TV.
The annual honors also acknowledge what the institute regards as "significant moments in the world of the moving image."
The AFI's top 10 movies, listed in alphabetical order, are: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Dark Knight," "Frost/Nixon," "Frozen River," "Gran Torino," "Iron Man," "Milk," "WALL-E," "Wendy and Lucy," and "The Wrestler."
The AFI's top 10 TV programs are: "Breaking Bad," "In Treatment," "John Adams,"; "Life," "Lost," "Mad Men," "The Office," "Recount," "The Shield," and "The Wire."
Juries made up of scholars, film artists, critics and institute trustees make the sections. The institute will honor the creators of the selected movies and TV shows at a Jan. 9 luncheon in Los Angeles.
