TV's 'Treatment' up for 5 Golden Globes

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- HBO's series "In Treatment" and its made-for-television movie "Recount" were each nominated for five Golden Globes Thursday.

The cable television network's miniseries "John Adams" also earned four Golden Globe nods.

In the running for the best TV drama series are "Dexter," "House," "In Treatment," "Mad Men" and "True Blood."

Nominated for best performance by an actress in a TV drama series are Sally Field for "Brothers & Sisters," Mariska Hargitay for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "January Jones for "Mad Men," Anna Paquin for "True Blood" and Kyra Segwick for "The Closer."

The nominees for the best performance by an actor in a TV drama series are Gabriel Byrne for "In Treatment," Michael C. Hall for "Dexter," John Hamm for "Mad Men," Hugh Laurie for "House" and Jonathan Rhys Meyers for "The Tudors."

Shortlisted for the best TV comedy are "30 Rock," "Californication," "Entourage," "The Office" and "Weeds."

Up for the Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a TV comedy series are Christina Applegate for "Samantha Who?," America Ferrera for "Ugly Betty," Tina Fey for "30 Rock," Debra Messing for "The Starter Wife" and Mary-Louise Parker for "Weeds."

Nominated in the best TV comedy actor category are Alec Baldwin for "30 Rock," Steve Carell for "The Office," Kevin Connolly for "Entourage," David Duchovny for "Californication" and Tony Shalhoub for "Monk."

In the running for the award for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, miniseries or TV movie are Eileen Atkins for "Cranford," Laura Dern for "Recount," Melissa George and Dianne Wiest, both for "In Treatment" and Rachel Griffiths for "Brothers & Sisters."

Shortlisted for the best supporting actor honor are Neil Patrick Harris for "How I Met Your Mother," Denis Leary for "Recount," Jeremy Piven for "Entourage," Blair Underwood for "In Treatment" and Tom Wilkinson for "John Adams."
