LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet each earned nods for two Golden Globe Awards when nominations were announced Thursday in Los Angeles.
Streep was nominated for the best actress trophies in both the drama and comedy/musical film categories for her work in "Doubt" and "Mamma Mia," respectively.
Winslet was nominated for best actress for her performance in the big-screen drama "Revolutionary Road" and for best supporting actress for her work in the movie "The Reader."
Also shortlisted for the best actress in a drama film prize along with Streep and Winslet are Anne Hathaway for "Rachel Getting Married," Angelina Jolie for "Changeling" and Kristin Scott Thomas for "I Loved You So Long."
Winslet's fellow nominees in the best supporting actress in a film category are Amy Adams from "Doubt," Penelope Cruz from "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," Viola Davis from "Doubt" and Marisa Tomei from "The Wrestler."
Competing against Streep in the best actress in a comedy/musical film race are Rebecca Hall for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," Sally Hawkins for "Happy-Go-Lucky," Frances McDormand for "Burn After Reading" and Emma Thompson for "Last Chance Harvey."
The 66th annual Golden Globe Awards are to be handed out Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The gala is to air on NBC.
