LONDON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- British singer and animal rights activist Paul McCartney won't take measures to control the boar population on his Peasmarsh property, his neighbors say.

The Daily Telegraph said some of the locals are complaining the wild animals, which can weigh up to 900 pounds, are "wreaking havoc" on the vegetarian's 1,500-acre East Sussex estate, as well as on surrounding gardens and farms.

"The boar are doing huge damage. They are also dangerous if confronted. Locals are up in arms. They are breeding like rabbits," one person told The Sun newspaper. "Boar are a huge problem for farmers. As with deer, the government has a policy to allow humane culling but Sir Paul is having none of it."

The Telegraph said McCartney's publicist declined to comment.
