Mark Ruffalo's brother shot in the head
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Actor Mark Ruffalo's hairstylist brother is clinging to life after suffering a gunshot wound to the head in California, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.
The entertainment news program said Wednesday on its Web site that Ruffalo's brother Scott was discovered with the head wound this week and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the injury is being conducted.
Sources told the New York Post the 39-year-old hairstylist was shot in the back of his head and has been in intensive care since he was found in Beverly Hills, Calif., early Monday.
Mark Ruffalo's publicist Jessica Kolstad told the Post the 41-year-old actor is by his brother's side at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
People magazine said Scott Ruffalo was shot at his condo in Beverly Hills and is listed in serious condition.
The magazine said he is married to Luzelena Ruffalo has a step-daughter named Lucinda. The New York Daily News said it is unclear whether they were home at the time of the incident.
Mark Ruffalo's film credits include "Reservation Road," "You Can Count on Me," "Zodiac," "13 Going on 30" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
Coldplay, Adele earn top Grammy nods
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Coldplay earned nods for record of the year, album of the year and song of the year when Grammy award nominations were announced in Los Angeles Wednesday night.
The British rock group also was shortlisted for the prizes for best pop performance and best rock performance by a duo or group with vocals, as well as best rock album and best rock song, it was announced during a star-studded concert at the Nokia Theatre.
Competing against Coldplay's song "Viva La Vida" in the record of the year category are Adele's "Chasing Pavements," Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love," M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss's "Please Read the Letter."
Nominated alongside Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" for album of the Year are Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III," Ne-Yo's "Year of the Gentleman," Plant and Krauss's "Raising Sand" and Radiohead's "In Rainbows."
"Viva" was also nominated for song of the year, as were "American Boy" by Estelle, featuring Kanye West, "Chasing Pavements" by Adele, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz and "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles.
Adele also was nominated for the best new artist Grammy, along with Duffy, Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan.
In total, Lil Wayne was nominated for eight awards, Coldplay for seven trophies, and West, Ne-Yo and Jay-Z for six prizes.
The 51st annual Grammy Awards are to be handed out Feb. 8.
Oprah taking show to D.C. for inauguration
BURBANK, Calif., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey has confirmed to "Access Hollywood" she will be taping her TV talk show in Washington during the week of the presidential inauguration.
"The Oprah Winfrey Show" has its headquarters in Chicago.
"I'm going to break that right here; that's where I'm going to be," Winfrey exclusively told "Access Hollywood" of her temporary move to the nation's capital. "See you there ... that's the place to be."
Winfrey, who is a vocal supporter of President-elect Barack Obama, also confirmed she has rented out the Opera House at the Kennedy Center to film the show in January.
Anne Heche expecting 2nd child
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Anne Heche's publicist has confirmed the U.S. actress is pregnant with her second child.
The baby will be the first for Heche and her boyfriend James Tupper, whom she met on the set of the series "Men in Trees" when both were married to other people.
Heche also has a 6-year-old son named Homer with her ex-husband.
"They are thrilled," the actress's representative told Usmagazine.com about Heche and Tupper's baby news.
The couple are to appear in an upcoming episode of the TV comedy "Samantha Who?"
