'Jeffersons' actor Benedict dead at 70

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- U.S. film, stage and television actor Paul Benedict has died at his home on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., at the age of 70, E! News reported Thursday.

The New Mexico native is best known for his portrayal of Mr. Harry Bentley on the popular 1970s TV series "The Jeffersons." He also had a recurring role on the children's program "Sesame Street" and appeared in the films "The Goodbye Girl," "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Waiting for Guffman."

The cause of his death Monday was under investigation, his brother Charles told E!
