"I have been transfixed with the books for years. I forget about everything else when I read them," Christine Berger, a 19-year-old German student, who was the first to pick up the volume at Waterstones in Piccadilly, told The Daily Mail.

"This is just more 'Harry Potter' magic and it may be the last time we get a new book released," added Larry Ivy, a travel agent from Texas. "My daughter got me into them and now I take people on tours all over Britain showing them where parts of the 'Harry Potter' films were shot."

In the United States, Borders and Waldenbooks stores had parties Thursday celebrating the release of "Beedle."
