Kid Rock to be Mardi Gras grand marshal

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Detroit-born recording artist Kid Rock has been named grand marshal of the 2009 Endymion Parade for Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

The event, which is to incorporate the theme of "Tales of Sleep and Dreams," is to take place Feb. 21.

"I've never met Kid Rock," Endymion krewe Captain Ed Muniz told The Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans. "But I've seen enough of his videos and, I can tell you, he loves a good time."

The parade is expected to follow a 5-mile route, then end at the Superdome where Kid Rock, REO Speedwagon, the Zippers and other groups are to perform, the newspaper said.
