PASADENA, Calif., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves has agreed to join Caltech researchers on a panel to discuss his new movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still," organizers said.

The chat is to follow a screening of the film Friday. Students, faculty and community members are invited to Caltech's Beckman Auditorium to hear how the science in the movie meshes with real world scientific research.

The panel discussion is to include Reeves, director Scott Derrickson and Caltech astrophysicist Sean Carroll and roboticist Joel Burdick.

The movie is to open in U.S. theaters Dec. 12.
