LONDON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Amy Winehouse's publicist says the British soul singer has been hospitalized due to an adverse reaction to her prescription medication.

Winehouse spokesman Chris Goodman told CNN Tuesday that the recording artist was taken Sunday to the private London Clinic so doctors could determine what the problem was. It was unclear whether she had since been released from the facility, the news outlet said.

The singer has long battled an addiction to drugs and was diagnosed months ago as being in the early stages of emphysema.

CNN said Goodman didn't say to what medicine Winehouse had a negative reaction.

Winehouse was hospitalized in July after her medication reportedly made her ill.

Britain's News of the World newspaper reported this week that Winehouse's husband, the recently released from jail Blake Fielder-Civil, had left the Grammy Award winner for a German model.
