YPSILANTI, Mich., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Michigan rapper Eric "M.C." Breed has died of kidney failure in Ypsilanti at the age of 37, following a long illness, his family and management announced.
Breed is best known for his 1991 song "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'" and his 1993 hit "Gotta Get Mine," featuring late hip-hop great Tupac Shakur.
E! Online said Breed died in his sleep Saturday at a friend's house.
"We are saddened by our great loss. More than just an artist, we mourn the loss of a beloved father, son, brother and friend," the rapper's family and management said in a statement. "We are thankful and blessed to have been in his presence and want him to be remembered for his creative, caring, talented and hard-working spirit."
