LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A movie version of the award-winning U.S. TV series "Arrested Development" is a step closer as two deals are being finalized, industry officials say.
The Hollywood Reporter said Friday that "Arrested" executive producers Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard are close to completing agreements that could help make a movie based on the short-lived series a reality.
Howard was the individual who first publicly broached the subject of an "Arrested" movie when he appeared in the Fox series' final episode as himself suggesting a film about the Bluth family.
"Arrested" followed the exploits of the zany members of the Bluth family and featured such actors as Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.
Since the show ended its 53-episode run in early 2006, stalwart fans of the show, as well as many of its stars, have openly discussed the possibility of a big-screen adaptation, the Reporter said.
Missing Kurkova bellybutton due to surgery
NEW YORK, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Surgery Karolina Kurkova had as an infant was responsible for the absence of her bellybutton, a representative for the Czech model said.
The unidentified representative was responding to recent rumors regarding the Victoria Secret model's apparent lack of a noticeable bellybutton at a Miami fashion show, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.
"She had an operation when she was an infant," the representative told the newspaper. "It's a fact and just thank God she's healthy."
The rumors came about following the runway show two weeks ago as prior photographs of the leggy model showed her with a normal bellybutton.
Industry sources say such physical contradictions were likely the work of photo retouching before the photos were released to the public.
Meanwhile, the Daily News said a plastic surgeon, Dr. Matthew Schulman, has offered an expert guess as to what surgery E! entertainment's World's Sexiest Woman may have endured as an infant.
"It does look like (she may have had) an umbilical hernia as a child that was either fixed or not fixed, which can distort the belly button," the Mount Sinai Medical Center doctor said.
Miller gets $78,500 for paparazzi photos
LONDON, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- British actress Sienna Miller will receive $78,500 from a London paparazzi group and its founder to settle her harassment suit, her lawyer says.
Attorney Mark Thomson said the agency, Big Pictures, and its founder, Darryn Lyons, have agreed to pay the "Alfie" actress for damages and legal costs to settle her lawsuit over a series of paparazzi photographs taken of her, The Times of London reported Friday.
The actress sued the photographic group under anti-harassment laws originally created to target animal rights protesters.
The company agreed as part of its settlement not to attempt to photograph the 26-year-old actress in the future, an agreement her lawyer says could be a key win for celebrities.
"It's not a binding court ruling but it may well encourage other celebrities and those followed in such a way to take action," Thomson told The Times. "We hope that people will back off my client as a result of this."
New doc recalls Kennedys' immigrant roots
NEW YORK, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Robert Kline says he wanted his new documentary "The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings" to focus on the political family's immigrant roots.
Kline told UPI in a recent phone interview that he was more interested in chronicling the Kennedy clan's origins in Ireland, their eventual rise to power as one of the world's best-known political dynasties and their contributions to the world, than he was re-examining the scandals frequently associated with the family.
"I have been asked, 'Did you tell the whole story?' And I look at the questioner when it's in a Q&A with the audience and I'll say, 'I don't do tabloid documentaries.' They mean was I going to do the private lives," said Kline. "I say I don't think that's relevant to the historical journey of an immigrant family that I wanted to tell."
Based on Thomas Maier's celebrated book of the same title, "The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings" is on DVD now.
Saturday was the 45th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas.
