Premiere of "Twilight" held in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Fandango says it has been selling five tickets per second to U.S. screenings of the film of Stephenie Meyer's vampire book "Twilight" since early Friday.

The ticket broker said it sold out more than 1,000 midnight show times Thursday into Friday -- both in advance and online.

"The film's robust ticket sales are clearly the result of solid word-of-mouth, the wide appeal of the blockbuster story and savvy Internet marketing," Rick Butler, chief operating officer of Fandango, said in a statement Friday.
