Mary Chapin Carpenter pens Times column

WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- The Washington Times has announced singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter is writing an exclusive, regular column for the newspaper.

Her first column appeared in the Show section of the publication Friday.

"Even though I no longer make my home in the District, I still consider myself a Washingtonian," Carpenter said in a statement. "It will feel good to be back, in words and ink, at The Washington Times."

"Mary Chapin Carpenter is a creatively evolving, mold-breaking national artist and beloved regional icon," said Daniel Wattenberg, Washington Times assistant managing editor for arts and features. "We couldn't be happier to have her contributing to the national and local multimedia platforms of The Washington Times.
