PREMIERE OF "V FOR VENDETTA"

NEW YORK, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The wildly popular Australian stage musical "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" is heading to Broadway, show representatives said.

Adapted from the 1994 Oscar-winning film, "The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert" -- starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce -- "Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical" is slated to open in March at New York's Palace Theatre.

Jason Donovan, Tony Sheldon and Oliver Thornton lead the cast of the show, which was written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, and directed by Simon Phillip.

Donovan, Sheldon and Thornton will play respectively Tick, Bernadette and Adam -- a "glamorous Sydney-based performing trio that agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback" -- show notes said.

The principal cast is joined by Zoe Birkett, Kate Gillespie and Emma Lindars as the three Divas, Wezley Sebastian as Miss Understanding, Amy Field as Marion, Danielle Coombe as Shirley, Tristan Temple as Jimmy, Kanako Nakano as Cynthia, Steven Cleverley as Young Bernadette and John Brannoch as Frank.
