BAGHDAD, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Members of the heavy metal band Dog Faced Corpse say it was a rare treat to play their loud music in Baghdad despite area opposition.
Band drummer Latif Ahmed said some Iraqis vocally opposed the band's performance at the Pharmacist's club, a private dinner club in Baghdad, The Sunday Times of London reported.
"It's very, very loud and our rehearsals made my neighbors very angry. We've had a lot of opposition," Ahmed said of his band's recent performance. "But on the night it was great. About 250 head-bangers showed up. Seven tables were broken. It was a full metal night -- the day I've always dreamed about."
Ahmed said opposition to his band even involved him being threatened at his college by students who support Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.
But in the end, the band members agreed the chance to play their music was worth the struggles.
"I felt proud because after all the difficulties we did it. Yeah, we did it," singer Muthana Mani told The Times.
