NEW YORK, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Comedy Central says it has started production on two new pilots called "Ugly Americans" and "Evan and Gareth are Trying to Get Laid."

The production announcement was made Thursday by Lauren Corrao, the network's president of original programming and development.

"Ugly Americans" is an animated project about an alternate universe in New York City that is being spun off from the comedycentral.com original series, "5-On." "Evan and Gareth are Trying to Get Laid" is a scripted narrative about two guys who work at a male advice Web site, the network said.

"We came to know the creators behind 'Ugly Americans' and 'Evan and Gareth are Trying To Get Laid' from their work on the Web and feel their creative ideas can carry over to our on-air channel," Corrao said in a statement.
