KENTWOOD , La., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Britney Spears's 2-year-old son has been hospitalized after getting sick during a trip to Louisiana, the pop star's publicist confirmed.

Jayden James was taken to the emergency room Sunday after he fell ill during a visit to his mother's family home in Kentwood, reported "Entertainment Tonight."

"ET" didn't offer details about the nature of the child's illness or his condition.

"Jayden James Federline was admitted to the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on Sunday," Usmagazine.com quoted Spears's publicist as saying on the singer's Web site later Monday. "Doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow."

Spears has two children -- Jayden and Sean Preston, 3 -- with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Federline has legal and physical custody of the toddlers and Spears has visitation rights with the boys.

This marks the first time Spears has been permitted to take her children out of their home state of California since Federline was granted full custody of them in July.

The pop singer's father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were granted conservatorship over her affairs after she was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment early this year.

Britain's Daily Mail newspaper said Jamie Spears accompanied his daughter and the boys on their trip to Louisiana.
